Background:
Dr. Bibel began his engineering career with the Standard Oil Co. While there he was in charge of the pressure vessel, piping and tankage group. Dr. Bibel has extensive experience with all phases of petrochemical equipment. This includes: specification, design, fabrication, inspection, installation, maintenance, failure analysis, and repair. Dr. Bibel also has industrial experience with stress analysis, vibration, metallurgy, heat transfer, fracture mechanics, finite element analysis, material selection, corrosion and welding. Dr. Bibel has worked with NASA Lewis every summer (1988 –1997) either as a university researcher or a summer faculty fellow doing research on rotocraft transmission gearing. Dr. Bibel received a Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University (1987) and an MS from University of Michigan (1980).
Teaching Interests:
Dr. Bibel is responsible for teaching material science, finite element analysis and senior design. Dr. Bibel is also interested in developing internet technologies.
